A little more organization...

Hey everyone. I have been thinking about some new things I want to add to the blog--

Wondering what you think about the following:

I want to start a featured photographer each week--so that one person gets highlighted and we can really get to know each other. I thought we could do a q&a on each person--

And I thought I would have one day as a mission 24 business day--to do all this kind of blogkeeping stuff...ask opinions, reminder of rules, etc.

HOWEVER, I don't want to have TONS of posts every day because I know it's probably hard for everyone to keep up on.

My thought was to just edit the VOTING posts (instead of having a new post to announce) and put the winners in a separate blurb at the bottom...like this:

Time to vote. Great challenge this time! Please remember to vote by saying:

Best overall:

Best_____:

Any shoutouts...

Thanks!

WOW! LOTS OF VOTES THIS TIME! Thanks for all the participation. Our winners are:
Best overall: Jane Doe with her sports shot
and
Best angle: John Doe with his train shot

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- -- - -- -- -

This would allow us to keep the posts to a minimum on non-challenge days.

So the schedule would be:
Monday--Voting (and Mission 24 business)
Tuesday--Featured photographer
Wednesday-Challenge
Thursday (remainder of challenge)
Friday-Voting (and Friday Feature)
Saturday - Challenge
Sunday (remainder of challenge)

What do you think?

Looks good - we would always know what to expect, but wouldn't get bogged down with posts.

Great idea, Rachel!! I love the idea of a featured photographer and I like the schedule you have worked out. Days without Mission 24 stuff going on are BORING days in the blogging world!! :) So this sounds like lotsa fun!!!

I love your ideas! This is a great one. I look forward to having a schedule and something to see each day.

I agree that a schedule would be helpful, and keeping all the business on one day is a good idea.

I don't know how many people on this blog subscribe via Google Reader of a similar reader. For those that do, adding the winners into the voting post later won't alert them to that update. Just a thought.

Sounds like a winner to me :)

Janelle--I did think about that--but I came to the conclusion that most people who are interested in the winners are going to be coming to this page to comment on pictures or vote, etc. So I figured either way people who cared about knowing who won were going to be checking back in here anyway. I suppose we could always put it on the sidebar too, if that were easier access for people. hmmm....

Or I could put the voting results with a new post (like a little blurb above the feature photographer, etc) so it would show up in a reader...

hmmm....what do you guys think?

I also figure that people will (in general) be interested enough in learning who the winner is that they'll come back and look. Many people probably check back throughout the day just to see how the votes are trending (or maybe that's just me). I just threw it out there to see if it was a concern for anyone.

Sounds good, and as a person who subscribes, I would just come back and check the winner the next time I got on to do something on the blog. But, having the winners on the sidebar might be nice though too. Then we know who won the last time around when we go to vote again... And maybe it is extra incentive for people to win. Your name in lights!... or something like that. hehe.
