Everyday Hero

What you call a hero, I call just doing my job. ~Author Unknown

I took this in natural lighting, outside. I brought it back to my Picasa program, cropped, 'warmed', and gave it a 'glow'. I happen to like the sunlight falling between the flag and the tribute, though it was an accident.
This is a mosaic at a local firestation that I've fallen in love with (the mosaic). Thanks, Rachel, for accomadating me and choosing a topic like this so I could make an excuse to get out there and take a picture!

I had a hard time really seeing this display without enlarging the picture. Before I clicked on it, I thought I was seeing firemen jackets made out of popcorn balls, but I knew that couldn't be right!. I like this display and the way you've captured it. I can see why you really wanted this theme.

That is so great. I am glad you have such a cool place remembering and thanking firemen. Cool shot.

That's funny because I thought it looked like popcorn at first too! :) What a cool monument. I love how you included the flag!

And no problem on picking this theme. Happy to oblige.

THis is SOO COOL! couple of questions: how did you "warm" up the picture and give it a "glow".. I'm loving the rays of light, so pretty!

In the free Picasa 3 program I downloaded a few months ago, there are three sections for 'fixing' your photos.
There's 'basic', where you crop, straighten, and take out red-eye. Then there's 'tuning' where you can change the fill light, the highlights, shadows, and color temp. Last, there's effects (this is my favorite). This is where you can sharpen, do b/w or sepia, 'warmify', tint, soft focus, glow and a few other cool things. I just googled editing programs and picasa 3 was the first one up. I tried and liked it, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't have the budget for a cool program or who just wants to make simple fixes. It's not advanced at all, and really easy to navigate!
