Tradition of Faith

I took my camera with me today, hoping I'd see something that said "tradition" to me. When I saw the sun shining on the temple, and the gorgeous blue sky, I stopped the car!

This picture means tradition to me for a couple of reasons. First of all, it used to be a tabernacle built in the early 1900s. It has been here for a century, as a gathering place for the saints in this area. I think historical buildings and places are full of traditions. Also, it reminded me of a talk by Elder Uchtdorf a few conferences ago when he spoke about a tradition of faith... the faith passed down to us from our ancestors. I have many examples of faith in my life, from ancestors who came from England for the church, and lost children along the way, to my grandparents who have served four missions all over the world. I am truly blessed to have such steadfast examples in my life, and I hope to continue the tradition of faith in my family for generations to come.

Great angle! I love this picture, and what a great tradition, too! Which temple is this?

Janelle, it's the Vernal temple... I was hesitant to post which one, because it tells where I live, but I can't think of what harm could come of it. ;) It's a beautiful temple!!

The Vernal Temple is the one I go to with my family when I'm home, my parents live in Rock Springs, WY. - it's the one we call "ours"... so I feel very proud of your picture... you definitely caught the beauty of it perfectly!
I love how the branches surround the angel Moroni-- so beautiful!

This is a beautiful picture..personally I love the smaller and older Temples. My husband and I were married in the St.George Temple so this Temple holds a special meaning for me...but I do love your picture. Good job.

Great picture, it sure is nice to see such a beautiful sky after such dreary weather where I live. Church is the best tradition ever!

I was thinking it was Vernal because of the whole "used to be a tabernacle" thing. I just couldn't remember if it was Vernal or Monticello that was from an existing building. In any case, you captured it beautifully.

Great job! I love your view of tradition. I also really liked the way your framed Moroni.

For CC- You could have tried standing on something or getting taller somehow so you didn't have quite so much of the tree in the front.

April, I totally know what you mean, and I agree, but your comment gave me a little laugh this morning... oh, how I wish I could get taller somehow! ;) (I'm 5'2")

Very neat. I love your sentiment, and the tree full of fruit over the winter is a very striking symbol to me.

Love this, Mindy. Wonderful tradition and I love the way you framed Moroni.

My CC would be to either use a higher aperture so that it's all in focus, or switch your focus to the tree and let Moroni be blurred. With so much of the tree in the picture, and it being the closest object, I found it a little distracting that it was blurred.
