My older daughter and I spend some time nearly every morning, doing her hair cute, painting nails, playing with my own makeup, or just dressing up. I wouldn't have called it a tradition a few months ago, but both she and I look forward to this time when I put her little sister, Lizzie, with her own toys and Evie and I have our own time. I really enjoy the things we do together, these pretty things, especially. This particular tradition, of doing her hair, became more important to me last month, when she got a haircut. (Read: butchered her hair with a pair pair of scissors TWO times within two weeks.) I felt like I needed to try harder to make her look girly, though she's cute no matter what. I love spending the time with her, and she loves to tell me what to do, like what color ponytail or which bow or how many we use. I hope to continue this with Lizzie one day (like when she HAS hair) and it can be each girls' own, mommy-daughter time.

I love how you took this picture from above your daughter, with her looking at the make-up (that I'm assuming she was just dying to put on with you!). Isn't it so much fun to have this great Mommy-daughter time together? I enjoy hair and nails time with my Emma so much! :)
The black and white effect looks great with this picture also! Great job!
I love the angle, and what a cute do! I would like to see what could be done with it in color, though... some of the grays seem to blend into each other. Did you take it in b&w, or convert it later?
I took the picture in color, but it felt to me like all the colors were so different. Evie's wearing blue, has blue bows in her hair, but everything in front of her is pretty mixed up and I felt like it was distracting.
Melinda, I'm sure you chose the best way! I just wondered... I always try different things with my pictures to see how they present best. :)
What a great photo!!!! Pretty hair too! I love the black and white!
That's such a great shot! Love the black and white. My niece just cut her hair twice within a month. Once right before Christmas and then a couple weeks after. Chopped the bangs the first time and then cut a chunk out of the side. What is it with girls and scissors?
What a fun tradition. I should look at "hair time" as more than just another chore... I love how this photo is cropped and I like the black and white.
You guys are so cute- If I ever have daughters I hope I can get them to sit still long enough for me to ettemps some of the things you do. (Thou I'm not sure I could pull them off anyhow. I actually really liked your other version of this with the nail polish and things being the only part in focus. I wonder if it would be just as cool if you did that effect but left her hair in focus instead. (You probably already thought of that but you can let me pretend I'm a creative genious right- LOL)
I certainly could have used time like that with my Mom! I'm so glad you found a way to connect with her.
SOOO precious! Made me want to spend more time playing dress up with my girl. I love the angle and the GLOW in the pic. Very nice job. It looks timeless
