Clean

I think I was supposed to give this a different title, but I couldn't come up with one. I chose this photo because I went and had my teeth cleaned this morning...

Up front, to let you all know, I'm a photo-fraud. I take lousy pictures, and then fix them up in Photoshop. I really did try this time, though, to adjust the aperture and manually focus it... but I couldn't get it focused to save my life, and I don't think my camera has a wide enough aperture range to get the effect I wanted. So, if anyone has any tips for me,

PLEASE CC.

I don't know nearly enough about photography to give any critiques at all. I do know that I like this picture. It's interesting to look at. It's colorful and fun and it was not at all what I was expecting. I really like your interpretation of clean. I guess, I could say (and I don't know how to do this of course) but if just the purple toothbrush were in focus and the rest were a bit blurrier, it would be even more interesting.

My only CC would be that a colored background might give it a little more life. But I like the toothbrushes...none of them are gross. :) The different colors are fun, and the heads all have slightly different shapes, too, which gives nice variety.

I really like this! I think it might look even better with the colors even more vibrant. What lens are you using? What camera/lens are you using? If you have a zoom that can also give you the blurred background.

cool idea! I like the picture! It reminds me of growing up with all my siblings in the same bathroom!

ThAat would be interesting with a blurred background. Someone told me that the small the f (I don't know what that is, I just know it shows up on my camera screen and how to make it smaller) the more blurry the background. So my camera goes to 4-22 I think. I would put this on four and see what I got.

Once again I'm no pro. I really like your idea. And I love that after dentist feel of your teeth!

I'm jealous of your photoshopping skills, so I don't think you're a "fraud" at all! Maybe you could do some photoshop tutorials on some of those Friday posts?

My brother has this lens: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=workaround.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=247091&is=USA (sorry, I don't know how to link in comments) and it is awesome! It has a nice wide aperture (f1.8) and is so easy to take great portraits with. It's not too expensive (at least in the camera world... eek, those lenses cost a lot!), so it's my next purchase. I don't know what kind of camera you have, but a lens like that might be what you want for the effect.

I think it's a great picture! I do want to know why you have so many toothbrushes when there are only 3 of you with teeth... ;)

Good question Mindy... after I took the picture I had to stop and wonder where all those toothbrushes came from... the only answer I came up with is "Wal-mart" ;0)

I like how they are all grouped together in this photo. The colors are great. I am not a pro so I don't have CC for you. You photo looks good though!
