Baby Cakes

Meet Ella. She is my best friend's little one. I adore her. I snapped this picture of her last night at a weenie roast. My only peeve with the pictures is all the noise in it. It was getting dark when I shot this so I had to bump up the ISOs to 400 (I usually shoot at 100).

CC welcome.

Noise schmoise! Mine was at 400 too. Her eyes are brilliant, and this picture is freakin' adorable!! I bet your best friend wants about 12 copies!! :)

Those eyes are amazing. Love it.

Do you have photoshop? Here's something to try (I copied your photo into my photoshop and already tried this): Duplicate the layer, then change the blending mode to "soft light". It gives it a little extra punch.

And if you're not sure how to do it, email me cgardunia [at] hotmail [dot] com and I'll gladly walk you through it in detail.

(I do this on probably 70% of all my photos, by the way.)

Erin, to get the eyes to pop...

In camera, I focused on the eyes. Anytime I have people in the picture, I focus on the eyes

In photoshop, I selected the eyes with the elliptical marquee tool and used the unsharp mask to sharpen just a tad. Go easy on the sharpening though or it can get a bit freaky ;) My settings were: amount 150, radius 2, threshold 10
