This challenge was a hard one for me. Not quite sure why though. Dave and I drove around for a few hours today taking pictures of anything that caught our eye. Dave got his shot early on but I continued hunting, fire hydrants, signs, barns, tractors...I wasn't satisfied with any of the pictures I took. I was getting quite discouraged. Right before it got dark I took this shot of my little one getting her wiggles out (she had been couped up in the car all day with us ;)) and catching snowflakes on her tongue. I was drawn to the splash of red (Dave's coat, we forgot hers, whoops) against the new fallen snow.
Anyway CC welcome. Really, maybe it will help me get out of my photography rut.

its hard to see your rut! i think this one is breathtaking! I am stoked you shot it at a 5! cus the detail in the trees adds so much to it! do you have a wide angle lens? this would be killer to shoot it low showing the muddyness more and then that pale white sky and the trees. she would lok so little. and STRONG with that red. that is what i love about it. how strong she looks! good one...really.
I love this picture, the red against the white is outstanding. Just beautiful all the way around. Your little girl looks so cute in her dad's red coat. I think this is just Gorgeous! ( To bad there is sooo much snow in the MIDDLE of April!)
I say WOWSA! Seriously. Amazing shot! I love the pop of the red against the snow (though I think I would love that in December more than April, hehe)
VERY nice job!
I like this picture a lot. I didn't think todays weather would help anyones picture but it works well. good job.
WHAT RUT?? I love this one! Really really love it! :D
What a shot! Is this SOOC or did you play with it some in photoshop? It's fun and lively and a nice antidote for the snow. Good job!
HOLY COW!!!!! THIS is AMAZING!!! Wow wow wow wow!!! I'm loving it-- sigh, if ONLY i could be in the same "rut" you're in... if only! This is such a great picture, i love all the white-- really sets off the red! And your girl is adorable.. what a sweet moment!!!
Wow this is fantastic. I love snow shots like this with the snow on the bare trees and the contrast with the red is great!
I am so impressed with your rut. I love what you did with this, and how convenient that Dave's coat is red. ;) Very nice photo!
One of my favorite pictures since I joined the blog
Gosh!!!!! Sooo dang good. I love the winter backgrd and her sweet little self....love it.Great Job!!!!
I love this picture! The pop of red and your little girl's expression both really grab your attention.
Ahhhh you guys lift my spirits! Really, ya do!
Sorry I always forget to mention what I do in photoshop elements. I sharpened, cropped it a bit and played with the vibrance slider in raw editing and then used the burn tool to darken the road just a bit to add more contrast to the scene. Oh and I added a border.
This is so great, and way to be the first one to post! The snow on the trees looks so crisp and pretty and the red coat just pops! It's really great!
Brittney, this is just awesome! I don't see that you're in a rut at all. I can't believe you guys are still getting snow. That's INSANE!!!!
I love the whole set-up of this shot, though, I love the winding road, the contrast of the white against the red... it's just gorgeous!!!
This is stunning. Really it is! I can't really say that enough. It's perfect!
SNOW?! I'm glad it's not me being snowed on ;) But lucky for you it made a beautiful picture. The red is so red with all the white behind it. Nice job!
That is a fantastic picture. I'm inspired.
