Simply Black and White

I love black and white for the fact that you can take a simple picture put it in B&W and it gives it depth and even life, some times. When I thought of this challenge I instantly thought of the simplicity of music in it's appearance, just the black and white notes across a page but how complex music really is, kind of like Photography.

I used a Pentax KM/K-2000 SLR camera in auto (not flash) natural lighting, using the macro feature. I used Picasa to make it B&W and sharpen the black a little.

Don't judge too harshly ;)

side note: for those of you who don't have photo shop or don't know how to use it (like me) I use the free Picasa program and I love it (for the fact that it is easy) you can do quite a bit with it, it's no photo shop but it is a nice program to use if you don't have time to learn photo shop or don't have it.

This is one idea i also had when i read the challenge... however, i don't have a single music book in our house! glad you did it (and even better than i would have) i love that you added your flute in the corner-- it adds so much life to it!

I LOVE picasa, I used it exclusively until I got photoshop elements and absolutly LOVED it. It really can do a ton! I loved your take on how black and white can give a simple picture depth and life. Your picture, definitely has depth and life, nice job!

Excellent job!! Love how you framed it and that you put the flute up at the corner.

love how you caught shadow of the instrument. I would have just got closer on the instrument and less of the hymn book but still it is a great pic.

Amen on Picasa...it's been a lifesaver and fun thing on here for me!

Love the music! Is that a clarinet in the corner? Brings it together nicely, I think. I like this!

Beautiful! I've stared at music for so many years, I think I forgot how pretty it can be when you're not reading it. Very nice idea!
