Sweet

Went to a church birthday party the other night and played around with my camera. I'm going to be inherting my hubby's canon eos 30d soon and then I'll get to learn and experiment a bit more. This was taken with my little Kodak point and shoot. I'm getting better with my depth of field. The woman who decorated the cake did a fabulous job with making the cake features... (is that too lame of a tie-in?--I have to admit that I haven't been super inspired in general)

The depth of field IS good! Nice job! I don't think your tie-in is too lame... this was a tough one. ;)

I like the DOF too. This photo makes me want to reach into the computer and eat the cake!

this is a pretty cool picture, although i do have to admit the tie-in is a bit of a stretch. i like not only your use of depth of field, but the background that's slightly out of focus behind the rose. However, perhaps if you had shot horizonally with the flower in the lower left (or possibly lower right) corner you could have had all of the lettering in the background which would have set the context for the image. And while still a great image, it's also an excellent candidate for a little post processing. On thei picture, for instance, you could have easliy increased the exposure slightly as well as the contrast. i believe this would have made the whites and colors pop just a little bit more. Oh, and don't get too excited about the 30d - it's still my backup! ;)
