Support System

I wanted to give props especially to my wife who helps me get good ideas on what to take pictures of or how to take them. She helps tolerate me hogging the camera to practice and try things! Also my friend Rachel H for the encouragement. Without both of them I wouldnt have been able to take pictures like this one.

Just got as close as I could and a bit of zoom on macro setting. Enhanced colors with a picture editor a bit. CC please.

Beautiful shot. The butterfly wings have the most interesting color!

VERY impressive, that's so cool that you got the butterfly at the perfect time! The colors are beautiful... even the green in the background!

Super picture!!! I love it! For CC... maybe cropping it so the butterfly isn't centered, and sharpening it just a bit (if your editor will do that). It's really awesome, though... I'm really trying hard to come up with anything to improve! ;)

Very nice shot. I like the intense detail of the veins in the wings, and the delicate poise of the legs. I love the timing, that the butterfly is perched just so. The only thing I would offer as CC is that I'd like for the butterfly color to pop a little more than the bright green background. I'm one who says that I am not a huge fan of doctored photos, but I would like to see the background faded out a little (not all the way, because it's beautiful green).

I was thinking the same thing as Rachel, how did you get so close with out it flying away? Beautiful picture.

A very pretty butterfly and I love the focus! Like said already, I would off-center the butterfly just a little, but I love that the butterfly is the only real color other than green here. NICE!

This was taken at the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco the rain forest exhibit. I was walking and saw it was already landed on a leaf right next to the railing.
The tour guide said it was common for their butterflies to even land on people. They just ask you move slightly wihtout touching it and it will fly away.
I tried to get other butterflies but this is the best one. I had to crouch down a bit but since it was so close just a little zoom for detail worked nice.

I dont have any editors cept the microsoft one and the google. I dont like to use them much so is there a way you can fade one color a bit? I agreed with all of you it would be nicer to pop the butterfly out in color more. I tried and it helped a bit, but more would be better!

Thanks to all for great feedback! Im not sure I will ever take one as good as this. You all take great shots!

THis is really cool- I love butterflies! I'd like to see you try some different crops to put it more off center. It would just give it a little more edge I think. Instead of a cool butterfly picture you could make it more of a cool picture. Does that make sense? I dunno- maybe I'm crazy.
