Support of a Mother

Yesterday was my first official shoot with my new lighting system! It was such a great learning experience. I am so grateful to the Mommy and Daughter pair who were kind enough to let me learn with them. This is one of my most favorite pictures ever taken. And it is the perfect example of the loving support a mother provides her baby.

f/10, 1/60, ISO 100. I've never really upped my f-stop that much with portraiture, but my lights did much better with it set higher, so until I acquire a light meter, trial and error is my friend. :)

What a great shot! I love little people feet. Which lighting system did you get...and which camera do you use with it?

I have an Alien Bee system and I'm currently using a D60, D300 is about to be on it's way! :) I know you're super excited about your D80, I just read your post that it's on it's way to you! :) I have really, really enjoyed my D60 and I'm keeping it as a back-up, but I'm ready for a new challenge! :)

Great job! The lighting looks awesome. I love the shot...I'd maybe have positioned her back foot a little differently because from far away, you see her toenails really sharp, but her toes get a little lost. The baby's feet are precious!

Oh this is a darling picture, I love the little tiny baby feet. Are you doing photo shoots from your home? I to would like to get some of the umbrellas and lighting, so much to learn but you are doing a great job with your shots.

Thanks, girls! I do have a studio in my home and I, personally, don't use an umbrella, I use an Octabox with my light. I also have a reflector kit to distribute the light, until I'm ready to invest in another light. :)

I have never seen a shot like this before. I have seen hands and head comparison shots like this but never the feet.
Fantastic and I like how it was black and white too.
