Simple: Flower

My crocuses are in bloom. I like this little flower because of its simplicity. It just sits there, not looking ostentatious, but making the world a little brighter.

About the photo: I used the macro setting on the camera, then used Picasa to edit the photo. I made it slightly soft focused, and then also used the "focal black and white" option to really make the flower pop. The editing wasn't very "simple", but the subject is.

what a pretty little flower! I love spring! I like that you made this black and white, and then colored the flower. It makes your eye focus on it!

I too like how the flower is colored with the rest of the picture black and white. I wish we would start seeing flowers where I live! Nice job.

I like the idea of a simple little flower fighting its way out of everything else. Pretty! I don't normally go for selective coloring, but it works for this picture well!

I love the idea of this picture, but for some reason my eye can't focus on it, because it seems way soft...but it could just be my bad eyes

@Shanda...
I did do a soft focus effect around the flower. The flower is not only the only colored part, but the only focused part. The rest is a little fuzzy. It's not just you. :)

(Thanks for the comments, everyone!)

What a beautiful color. I totally think selective coloring works on this too--the only thing I wish was different is that I wish it was cropped tighter. But super job!

Wow, cool effect. Devinately doesn't sound "simple" in technique. Way to get creative with the colors, I think it really works for you.
