Featured Photographer- It's just me!

My name is Megan. I am so excited to participate. I have been following M24 because of Melinda (friends from high school so long ago). I live in Idaho with my dog TJ, however I live with 5 miles of my parents and 3 of my sisters so life is very busy with family dinners and functions. I work full time for national trucking company as a trainer and customer service. I have always enjoyed photography. I don't do a lot of "sessions" except for family senior portraits or engagements.

I actually use two cameras. My camera is a Sony Super Steady Shot DSC W120 7.2 Mega Pixels. The camera that I covet (and try to steal) is my father's Nikon D50 (I think it is 7 mp as well). I LOVE that camera!! He has worked at Micron Technology for the past 29 years. The camera was a thank you gift at 25yrs and I pray my company is just as nice, but if they are not, I am saving up.

My favorite subjects would be niece/nephews. I love how innocent they are (at least the young ones) and capturing their love of life and happiness just makes me smile. I also enjoy nature. Flowers and water in particular.

My three favorite photos (that I can access from work):

This is my youngest niece Marlee. (taken with Sony)

A veggie stand at Pike Place Market in Seattle WA (taken with Sony)

You will soon find out that I am utterly in love with my 9 month old baby girl, Kylie, and she tends to be the subject of most of my photos. I told you, my baby is in just about every picture I take. Here we are hanging out in her room with the camera propped up on a window sill. Love her!

Hello Mission 24 Crew

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer Calderwood. I am currently a Masters student, but have recently found a passion for photography. Funny how life works out. Anyways, I have 3 children, 2 boys (Cameron, 5 & Briar, 10) and a step-daughter (Molly, 7). My husband is currently working in Iraq as a DOD & will be home for R & R very soon!
This pic is me, on the road as usual. I'm always driving somewhere, usually to South Carolina to look for foreclosures for my hubby!
I have heard about Mission 24 from two people already and, looking into my creativity, thought it sounded interesting and fun! Anyways, thank you for having me :)

Hello All You Talented People You!

Hello! My name is Nicia. Pronounced knee-see-uh, and I believe I am the newest member of this awesome blog! I am very excited to get into this whole photography thing. I know I have an awesome camera...I just don't know how to use it!

I reside in beautiful Cheyenne, WY with my Air Force hubby, Joe, and my beautiful daughter, Alyssa (2).

Rachel told me I had to put a self portrait of myself on here. I went on to tell her that if I did that, that meant I would have to actually do my hair and makeup. Things I avoid at all costs these days! (just kidding....kind of.) So, here you are. This is more of a last minute, 10:42pm shot, focusing more on my camera than myself. Not that that is a bad thing. :)

And, my self portrait.
Hi! I'm Corynn. I am from Arizona. I am new to real photography, but I have always loved taking pictures and scrapbooking. Currently, I am a stay at home mom with my five-month old, Jake, and I am taking a photography class at the community college. It is almost over though. :( And, in case you are wondering, I shoot with a Canon Rebel Xs. I look forward to being challenged!

New Girl

I'm one of the new girls on the blog.
My name is Crys (Chris) I live in Kentucky as a house wife, and kitty mommy.
I got hooked onto this page from my sister in law.
I love taking photos, I even have my own business.
So I jumped at the chance to try something new.
I look forward to seeing everyone's photos and working with pictures. If you ever have any questions about my photos feel free to ask. --Crys

New to the blog

Hello, I'm new here so I'll introduce myself....

In the Blogging world I am known as K Harker, you can all call me K. I am a mother of two cute kiddos and a wife of a hardworking husband. We are enjoying our short time out in the Mid West while my hubby finishes up Dental School. We like it here, but we consider ourselves true Westerners and can't wait to get back there.

We just bought our first SLR for my hubby (he's the artist of the family) but I have found I enjoy taking pictures with a nice camera just as much as he does. I know Rachel from Rexburg ID and I have been stalking this blog since it's beginning but was too afraid to join, until we bought our newest camera, that is. So thought I could learn some things from all of you as I feel like I know nothing about my camera or photography and you all seem to have some amazing pictures on here.

Nice to officially "meet" all of you!

(I will do a seperate post for my B&W challange pic, just give me a couple of hours :)

Self Portrait

Hi, my name is Jessica Berg!  I'm fairly new to the Mission 24 blog.  My family and I are avid outdoor adventurists.  Some of our hobbies include fly fishing, hiking, winter mountaineering, rock climbing, running, and traveling to name a few.  We are nestled just south of Nampa, Idaho in the beautiful Treasure Valley.
I apologize for my "tardiness"!  Cold season has definitely set in at our household.  I've been busy taking care of my husband and son.  They are now on the mend and I am thrilled to start this new challenge.
I consider myself an amateur photographer.  I've been taking photos of anything and everything for 5 years now.   My in-laws bought me a new Canon EOS 30D for Christmas and I'm starting to test the waters.  I'm looking forward to the up and coming photo challenges to bring out the creativity within me.
:)  Jess

Self Portrait & Intro

Hi everyone! I am new to the blog and excited to be here! Photography is a passion of mine and I never could figure out why my pics were all out of focus...until I got new glasses. Hee hee. Now I have a new camera, new glasses and am ready to take some good pics. I'm still learning.

My 2 1/2 yr old helped me take this self portrait. This is probably the best one she took. I have a lot of pictures of my stomach, my head cut off and the walls next to me but we finally got one and I gotta love her. It was so much fun!

I am a Momma (Abi 2 1/2 yrs old and one on the way) & dental assistant. I love to sew, read, ride my 3-wheeler and I love lemons. My hubby is an electrician, EMT-I, Fireman and awesome guy!

I look forward to stepping outside of my box and take new pics for the topics each week.

Thanks!

Ivy M

Self Portrait

I have only done a few posts and most of you probably dont know me so putting a face with a name might help. My wife took this picture but I set it up.
Im sort of...corky... I guess is a good way to explain it. I hate many movies people like because im to critical, yet at the same time I love Clue and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I like proper dress like Regis Fillman but at the same time I love t-shirt and my holey jeans. I love cultures, cultural food. Ever since I was little I used to watch old Kung Fu movies on tv and who can forget the Karate Kid. Well I have always wanted one of those chinese hats.

So here is my self portrait of my corkiness!

My Self-Portrait

Hi!! My name is Jackie Tew, and I'm SO stoked about the Mission 24 challenge."I love a good challenge". I am a mother of two, and am a full-time college student at the moment. I would consider myself an amateur photographer, Ive been taking pics now for about 3 or 4 years. I take pics of anything, and often things that most people wouldn't. Nice to meet you all!

Catching Up: Self-Portrait, Comfort, Dream, and Tradition

So I just joined this week and already I'm behind. I told Rachel that I probably won't be able to do all of the challenges in a timely manner, but I'll try my best to keep up. I had to cheat just a little bit. I took all of the pictures, but I didn't take them all this week. Some of the pictures are taken with my Nikon S3 (the best point and shoot) and others with the Nikon D90 (that my husband got me for Christmas and I am still trying to figure it out). Here goes:

Self Portrait

This was such a hard picture for me to take. Not just because I don't like pictures of myself, but also because it is really hard to take a picture of yourself. I ended up taking it with a self-timer on my point and shoot. Can I just say that I felt like a psycho sitting in my back yard smiling at a camera with no else around? The lighting was horrible.

My Comfort

This is my kittie Ani. She is the cuddliest little cat and before my husband moved in, she was my constant companion. Even now, when Rod is away for work, she comes and cuddles with me. It is a huge comfort. I like this picture because the red ribbon around Ani ties in with the red flowers behind her. I also like that you can see the detail in her whiskers.

Day Dreaming

My dream is to spend my days traveling. Because I didn't have any trips this week, you will have to settle for a picture from one of my last trips. I like this photo (even though it is a little dark), because the the fog lifting and the overcast sky add mystery to an already mysterious location.

(Non) Traditional

Most of my traditions center around holidays and annual parties, none of which were happening this week. Instead, I took a picture of my husband's latest meal (mussels and oysters). Growing up my family was very set in traditional gender roles. The women (me and my stepmom) cooked and cleaned, and the men (my dad and brothers) took out the trash and mowed the lawn. I always hated that my mom, who also worked full time, had to come home and make everyone dinner too. It didn't seem fair. So when I met Rod, I was amazed that he not only knows how to cook (really well), but he enjoys it. He also doesn't mind doing the dishes or cleaning. Again, this picture is not the best, but as you can see in the background, everyone was waiting to eat.

Self-Portrait

Hello Everyone, I'm Candace, I did my first post yesterday, before my self-portrait, but only because I hadn't yet had enough time to squeeze in actually applying some make-up and making myself picture ready!
A bit about myself... I am twenty-nine...for another 44 days, but who's counting? I hate to admit, but leaving my twenties is scaring me a bit. I have two beautiful children, Emma, who is four, and Noah, who is eight months old. I was a sixth grade english teacher before my children were born, but now I'm very lucky to have my dream job... a stay-at-home mom. I wouldn't trade this time watching my children grow and blossom for anything in the world.
My husband got me a Nikon D60 for mother's day last year, four days before my baby boy was born, and ever since then, I've taken about 10,000 pictures of my children and photography has become a passion of mine, but I'm definitely not a "photographer", just a girl who really likes taking great pictures! I know very little about the settings on my camera, I use the auto mode entirely too often, but I'm actively trying to wean myself from it and learn more and more each day. I'm really hoping through completing these challenges and getting feedback from each of you that I will become more proficient in using my awesome camera!
Also, I hope you don't mind, but I'm really enjoying visiting each of your personal blogs after I read the comments that you've left for feedback on my posts here, so if you get the occasional, or even frequent comment from me, don't be surprised! :)

Not a barbie...

Well I don't think this picture really screams Erin or what I like to do, but at least it looks like me! I heard about Mission 24 from a very good and long time friend (Shanda, great pictures). I actually know two childhood friends on this site, so it is great to see that we all still have something in common!
I am a happy wife and mother of three. I have two that are in diapers still and I fear that there will be no end to the diaper duty! My family are my usual guinea pigs for my pictures. I really enjoy photography, ever since I got my first camera in the 8th grade, yeah what a beauty! I don't have an extraordinary camera now but it gets what I want done! I'm using a Sony Alpha (Sony bought out manalta and this is the old manalta camera) I wouldn't say that I'm a photographer, I'm just a person that likes to take pictures!

Portraits and Dreams

Hi, I'm Jenny, here in today's "self portrait," taken to display the scarf I just knitted. In a nutshell, I am an artist and a stay-at-home-soon-to-be-mother. I recently aquired a Nikon D-40 (thanks hubbie!), and would love to use this blog as a means for better understanding my camera and refining my photography skills (photography being a lifelong hobby of mine). I look forward to taking on these Mission 24 challenges and getting some feedback on my pictures!
And as it seems that "Dreams" is the latest challenge, I'll explain how this picture covers that as well. My biggest dream in life is to be a successful wife and mother, and in this picture I am 1 1/2 years happily married and 6 months pregnant, and thus am in the beginning stages of my dream journey. And with that, my mission on this blog has begun!

Green Portals & Strokes

I've been behind on the topics, so this is a dual-purpose post.

I find both of these subjects (self-portrait and dream) to be very difficult. This is what I came up with tonight:

These are my eyes, and they are my most favorite feature. They are a green that is very different, and I love having something that is really just ME.

When I used the flash I looked VERY scary, so this picture is what I settled for tonight. (Anyone have any ideas for shaping eyebrows? I've never been confident in that area at all, and obviously need some work!) (And.... this is without any makeup. Sorta scary.)

I am a mother of two boys (2 1/2 years, 8 months), I work part-time, I love being in charge of things, I am have recently taken to exploring allrecipes.com to create different things for dinner, I am gearing up to move (dreading that!), and we are trying to make it with my husband laid off and finishing his last class in school before he gets his Horticulture degree. I feel like this great big hodge-podge of things, and I am excited for contributing to this blog.

And, this is my DREAM category picture:

I have a hard time quantifying my dreams. I just really don't do it. And I've never really had a problem with not dreaming much. Believe me, my husband does it enough for both of us. However, there are parts of me that want to reach out and LEARN or DO, and this is one of those things.

My grandmother was an accomplished oil painter, as were many of her relatives. She produced art that continues to amaze me. I have never felt very talented in this area, but I have never tried. When I was younger I found her painting kit and asked my Mom if I could try, and she got very upset at me. I don't think she realized I was serious, but it still really hurt my feelings. So, my dream is to take an oil painting class.

I hate to admit it, but these brushes are from a make-up kit. I don't even own a real paint brush.

I'm not really looking for criticism on these because I took them in all of, seriously, one minute, so it's just more FYI this time. Thanks for the previous comments, though!
