Hi! I'm Corynn. I am from Arizona. I am new to real photography, but I have always loved taking pictures and scrapbooking. Currently, I am a stay at home mom with my five-month old, Jake, and I am taking a photography class at the community college. It is almost over though. :( And, in case you are wondering, I shoot with a Canon Rebel Xs. I look forward to being challenged! 

Wisdom Wears a Beard

When I think of Wisdom, I think of an old man with a beard (or an owl). Since I don't have any old men with beards at my disposal, I settled for my bearded Jack Russell Terrier. (Can you see his beard? People tell me he has one, but I see him so often, I can't tell!) Not only is he bearded. He is surely a wise old friend.

I would have loved to put a frame around this like I've seen some of you do. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Is it done in Elements, regular Photoshop, Picasa or on Blogger? Thanks.

One Last Coveted Box

Help! I am really not proud of this picture. I thought and thought about what to photograph. I have flowers and one lonely bell pepper growing in my garden, but nothing I really liked. I thought about not even posting, but I really want to learn more. Please leave CC. Is there something I could do with lighting or angle to make this shot more interesting? Oh, and my self portrait is still coming. I promise! 

*Edit: I have a Canon Rebel XS. I have 2 lenses. I was using the 75-300 because I get better blur, but I have a 50mm (whatever the standard zoom lens is...) I was at 4.5 at 1/40a sec. 1600ISO (My house must be really dark! haha.) I tried to edit it and take out some of the yellow from my lights in my kitchen, but never really got it back to neutral. Thanks for your help!

Threads of the Past

I inherited my grandmothers sewing machine and with it some old wooden spools of thread, thimbles and a measuring tape. They all looked so neat, I put them in this jar and displayed them above my new machine (sorry Grandma) instead of using them. Not only are these items definitely vintage, they are special things of my grandmas that I get to keep!

f5.6 at 1/40 sec. (I hand held the camera as steady as possible.) I desaturated the photo a bit too.

Oh, and I am new here. I am working on my self portrait still. When I get that done then I will tell you more about myself.
